Early Bird Openings in Association with Autism Anglia

Join us for our early openings at the Museum aimed at children who have autism and other needs, along with their families, carers and siblings. You are welcome to bring anything that will you make you more comfortable such as assistance dogs, ear defenders or toys. Projections and noises in the museum galleries will be off until 11am to allow you to enjoy the galleries in a quiet environment. We hope you will stay with us after this time to explore the site. Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse closes at 5pm.

Castle Writers

The workshops are suitable for budding writers and those wishing to improve their skills. The sessions will build confidence and skills in a friendly and supportive environment by offering constructive feedback, suggestions and advice. The sessions are led by Amanda Addison and although based in the classroom, they make extensive use of the Castle galleries and exhibitions to support the learning.

Willow Garden Sculptures with Sue Kirk

On this one-day workshop you will make two or three structures to take home for your garden. You will be taught how to grow willow and prepare it for weaving, and a variety of basketry techniques such as three rod wale, randing, pairing and binding. You will construct dragonflies, tea light lanterns, bird feeders or two different styles of climbers for beans or sweet peas. After a popular workshop in 2017, tutor and basket maker Sue Kirk returns to Gressenhall to teach garden structures. Suitable for beginners, or as a follow up to last year’s Bird Sculptures.
