Humans in Ancient Britain

The story of humans in Britain stretches back nearly one million years, with the earliest human footprints found off the coast of Happisburgh. This exhibition from the collections of the Natural History Museum and Norfolk Museums Service focuses on significant objects that have informed our understanding of early Britons, selected specially for the Time and Tide Museum of Great Yarmouth Life.

ARTIST ROOMS: Jeff Koons

Jeff Koons is widely regarded as one of the most pioneering and controversial artists of our time, known for his imaginative use of everyday objects. This landmark exhibiton showcases Koon's remarkable career and includes his breakthrough work with vacuum cleaners and basketballs, as well as his more recent explorations with inflatables cast from aluminium. ARTIST ROOMS: Jeff Koon will be the first time Koon's work has been shown in East Anglia and is the only chance to see Koon's work in the UK in 2015. The exhibition is organised in partnership with Norfolk & Norwich Festival (8-24 May) - a world class festival of music, visual art, theatre, performance, and literature.

The Lost World of the West Runton Mammoth - a talk by Professor Tony Stewart (Durham University)

This is the story of the discovery and excavation of the largest and oldest mammoth skeleton ever found in Britain. Research by an international team of experts has revealed a uniquely complete picture of its environment 700 thousand years ago, how it died and what happened afterwards.
