'almost too daring for an individual': John Sell Cotman's one-man exhibiton, 1806-7

In the winter of 1806-7, 24 year old John Sell Cotman staged an extensive one-man exhibiton at his house in Norwich. Located in the Colman Project Space, this exhibition re-imagines the show, highlighting the enterprising methods Cotman used to present himself as an ambitious and varied artist.

Humans in Ancient Britain

The story of humans in Britain stretches back nearly one million years, with the earliest human footprints found off the coast of Happisburgh. This exhibition from the collections of the Natural History Museum and Norfolk Museums Service focuses on significant objects that have informed our understanding of early Britons, selected specially for the Time and Tide Museum of Great Yarmouth Life.

Enchanted Garden

Enchanted Garden is a new series of eight polychromed and gilded alabaster reliefs by Ana Maria Pacheco. They reflect the artist's interest in the medieval alabasters in the Castle's collection and depict mythic creatures from her imagination. Work by the sculptor is also on display across the city.

Witch Hunt: The East Anglian Witch Hunt 1645-47

Behind the fairytales and folklore lies a true story of paranoia and persecution, which led to the execution of 50,000 men and women between 1500 and 1800. This exhibition explores the witch hunt that took place at the height of the English Civil War. A touring exhibition by Epping Forest District Museum.

ARTIST ROOMS: Jeff Koons

Jeff Koons is widely regarded as one of the most pioneering and controversial artists of our time, known for his imaginative use of everyday objects. This landmark exhibiton showcases Koon's remarkable career and includes his breakthrough work with vacuum cleaners and basketballs, as well as his more recent explorations with inflatables cast from aluminium. ARTIST ROOMS: Jeff Koon will be the first time Koon's work has been shown in East Anglia and is the only chance to see Koon's work in the UK in 2015. The exhibition is organised in partnership with Norfolk & Norwich Festival (8-24 May) - a world class festival of music, visual art, theatre, performance, and literature.

Those Feet in Ancient Times: the early human occupation of northern Europe - a talk by Dr Nick Ashton (The British Museum)

Join the British Museum’s Curator of Palaeolithic and Mesolithic collections for an illustrated talk examining the presence and habitat preferences of early humans in north-west Europe over the last 800,000 years. Nick’s particular interests are include the earliest occupation of northern Europe (currently being investigated through fieldwork at Happisburgh), the early human adaptation to northern environments and the investigation of when Britain first became an island.
